We operate the pound on behalf of the City. Any stray cats or kittens that are brought to our Shelter we legally hold for a 72 hour period, as per the Saskatchewan Animal Protection Act. For dogs or puppies, we hold for up to 5 days to allow the pet’s owners time to track their animal to us.

Please check our adoption pages if you are looking for your lost cat or dog

In order to claim your pet from the pound all fees need to be paid by cash or debit. These fees include impoundment offence fees, boarding costs and licensing if required. Please note that we no longer accept cheques for pound fees.

As well any City of Swift Current resident must provide proof that their pet is licensed and up to date with rabies vaccinations. If your pet requires a City license, you may purchase one through the Shelter when you come to claim your pet.

Note: To reclaim your pet, you may be required to provide ID and proof of ownership (e.g. city license, recent vet bill, etc).
