What is the capacity of the SPCA shelter? This is a question we are asked often and the answer is “it depends”. Some shelters regularly euthanize pets to create space for new animals. However, the Swift Current SPCA is a “no-kill” shelter. This means that we never euthanize a pet simply to create room for another animal – pets stay with us until they find a new home. The downside to this choice is that it means there are times we have limited capacity to take in new pets; we are a small shelter and as much as we would like to be able to help every animal, sometimes we can’t.
